Class Experience

As a fluent ASL user, the teacher will instruct learners on the basics of American Sign Language. Students will learn fingerspelling techniques and signs for: family, places, time, temperature, food, clothes, health, feelings, requests, amounts, colors, money, and animals that were learned in Beginner's ASL will be utilized and used in phrases and conversations. Students will become confident in their practice of using intermediate ASL skills. This is also a great refresher course for students who may know a good amount of ASL and need to refine their skills. Learners do need prior ASL skills and can take the Beginner's class before this course for 4-weeks. My teaching style for this course is very hands-on and learners will be using ASL for the entire course. I teach with an open format and accept questions during the lesson. Students may always reach out to me with their ASL questions or information they would like to learn about the Deaf community.

Week 1: intermediate fingerspelling (tempo and speed), facial expressions, questioning, basic phrases
Week 2: conversational sign language
Week 3: intermediate fingerspelling (tempo and speed), facial expressions, questioning, basic phrases
Week 4: conversational sign language
