Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello,
My name is Santiago and I am a music and video production professional.
I love teaching music production using Ableton Live (a prominent music production software). I also teach aspects of the business side of the music industry.
I teach video editing and production aspects including, video editing, film production and cinematography. I teach video editing on Davinci Resolve and free, industry standard editing software.
Professional Musician/Music Industry Background:
I have been creating music professionally for 7 years and I have played guitar and other instruments for over 15 years. I studied music industry and music production at USC in Los Angeles. I have worked in various record labels and publishing companies including: Friends of Friends Records, BMG Publishing, and Rhino Records (Warner Music Group). For the past 5 years I have dedicated myself to the creative aspects of the industry. I am now a sound designer, music producer, and I score films. I work primarily with large scale installation artists such as Julius von Bismark and Julian Charriere but my clients are varied!
Video Production Professional Experience:
I have been editing video from the age of 10 and though I did not recieve a college degree in video production I have become a professional via working in Julian Charriere's video editing studio. Julian is a prominent video and installation artist. Here I learned professional video editing techniques and also how to produce professional videos. I am now the in-house film producer for the non-profit, SOS Orinoco.
As a teacher I believe in creating an open-minded classroom where all students feel comfortable sharing their interests and the work that they create. I like to get to know my students and treat them as individuals and even give individual homework tasks to each student so that they can progress in their goals effectively!
I believe that teaching is a position of incredible responsibility not only because of the impact I can have on my students but also because I know from experience that good teachers can change lives! I am lucky to say that I have had many great teachers that have shaped the person I have become and have shaped my perception of the world and my ability to have direct positive change within the world.
