Class Experience

This class is for students who are familiar with acrylic painting that want to strengthen their skills. Each week, students will be assigned a project step by step that utilizes more techniques. Week one will be a landscape, week two will be a still life, week three will be a self portrait, week four will be a painting of your choice, and week five will be a freestyle speed painting (30 minutes), and end with a class critique of all works completed throughout the class. During this last critique, students will utilize artistic terminology to analyze each other's work and give constructive feedback and encouragement. This practice is very useful for any students pursuing art as a serious hobby or career.

Students will be given lots of artistic freedom, as long as they are following along with techniques and utilizing the methods I show them. Projects must be completed carefully, and practice for these techniques is encouraged. Lastly, students are encouraged to think critically and exercise their artistic knowledge as they create these paintings.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to utilize more advanced acrylic painting techniques, along with practicing art fundamentals such as line, shape, value, and color theory. Each of these practices will be implemented within each project of the course.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone, my name is Brittany Lambert and I'm an artist teaching what I love to do.. ART!

I've been an artist most of my life, mainly focusing on drawing and painting. I earned my BA in Art in 2018, and am currently attending graduate school to become a full time art teacher. I currently live in Southern California, where I enjoy some of my favorite hobbies such as going to the beach, hiking, and of course, creating art!

I teach the basics of drawing, painting, and art theory through fun, simple projects that kids can enjoy. My ultimate goal as a teacher is to encourage students to understand how art is so much more than just learning techniques and creating masterpieces. Art is about exploring yourself as an individual and the world as a whole! I teach on Outschool to provide students a creative outlet where they can let loose, have fun, practice their skills, learn A LOT, and put forth their own ideas by expressing their artistic voice. I want students to grow knowing their ideas matter. After all, isn't that the point of creativity?! :)
