Explore the basics of interior design by studying a different interior design topic each lesson, including types of window coverings; fabrics; accessorizing; lighting; creating a style with elements of color, texture and pattern; building materials; how to create a design concept board; understand what is involved in creating furnishing plans; common interior design business practices; etc. Your student will then apply their new skills by analyzing interior photos of their choosing and getting feedback from the teacher. This course is taught by a professional architectural/interior designer and is meant to prepare your student for creating future projects in other courses by first mastering the foundations of interior design. Completing these classes will give your student a head start towards a professional design career/school & a certificate of completion to add to their portfolios. Families can use this course to meet their own academic elective credits. 

What to expect: 
🎥 12 Lessons, video in a slide show format taught by Ms. Katie w/printable class outline.  
       Entire course is in Outschool Classroom. No need to leave the platform while learning, 
       but will need to research photos online. 
📝 Recommended Assignments & Optional Personal Enrichment Activities (for students 
      who want to learn about the skill further.) No quizzes/tests. Teacher assesses by 
      student's answers to the assignment for mastery of the skill.  
😃 Teacher feedback on all assignments within 72 hours & by request, grades/reports
✨ Certificate of Completion
📚 Self-Paced, 1:1 mentoring format w/no classmates. Enroll, selecting when you are ready to start & interact with the teacher for 12-weeks from that date. (Extensions for the teacher support available upon request.)

👩‍🏫 Teacher availability for feedback/support is limited to a set number of students per fall/winter/spring/summer sessions. Please book ahead by picking an enrollment date for the school session you need to secure your spot. 

👨‍🎓 Class material level is designed for a mature middle schooler and high schooler.

🧐 There are no interior design projects or arts/crafts required in this course. Students use analytical skills to determine what makes great design by finding photos and talking about them.  If your student enjoys projects, please select the Interior Design HS Semester Course for same content with a final project.
