5 hrs 30 mins in-class hoursHomework
1 hour per week. This class will have homework/assignments and I would love for everyone to complete every assignment, however there is no pressure to do so. Ultimately homework will be optional, but I will also provide time in class to complete assignments if students need. Most of the homework will be to practice using your interior design skills, so you can share with the class on presentation day.Class Experience
In this 9 week course, we will cover several aspects of interior design! There will be homework assignments, but students will have the option to work on them in class and if the homework does not get completed, it is really nothing to worry about. The homework is meant to aid students in their understanding of interior design and be fun! I will teach by going over prepared lessons. These lessons will include a variety of contents throughout the semester including videos, class activities, lectures, images, quizzes, and more! I like for learning to be fun! Each class period students will also have the option to share their homework / assignments with the class if they would like. I like to allow my students to share their work with the class- it provides the chance to learn from people other than myself. We can all learn from each other in the world of art. My teaching style is to be fun and encouraging. My hope and overall goal is for students to have fun while learning. I also love to embrace the fact that interior design is an art. Everyone sees art differently and I like to embrace and welcome that. Learners will have several opportunities to interact with myself and other students. Some lessons are more interactive than others, but students will have multiple chances to interact with myself and other students. This class is designed to work from the bottom up, meaning we will cover the basics and get more detailed as we go along. Therefore, students do not need any prior knowledge or experience in order to take this class. (If you have taken my classes before, do not worry- we will still cover a lot of new material for you, so there is room for everyone in this class!)
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding in several aspects of interior design. Students will also practice their creativity, problem solving, critical thinking skills, and more.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Alexis Bigelow. My professional background involves being a recent graduate from UNC Chapel Hill with a BA in Dramatic Arts.
I am passionate about the arts, Harry Potter (I am a Hufflepuff!), Star Wars, anime (I LOVE Naruto), and video games! It is my goal to create fun and educational classes on these subjects.
When it comes to teaching, I have a couple core values I strongly believe in. I believe there is no such thing as a, "stupid question." Too often children are afraid to ask questions in class because there is a lack of encouragement on the administrative side. My goal is to promote a healthy, happy, and encouraging environment that makes children excited to learn. This brings me to my second core value- it is more important to learn and to apply oneself than to worry about a grade. Learning should be fun and something a student genuinely looks forward to. With this in mind, I will certainly provide feedback for assignments/class activities/etc; but the feedback will be based on the idea to improve knowledge and applying oneself versus a grade. It is truly my hope that my students will be excited about learning!
A few fun facts about me include: 1) I have recently started a Princess Peach items collection! 2) I am left handed. 3) The first thing I ever sewed was a pair of Harry Potter pajama shorts!
