Assessment
Interior design is a form of art, therefore, I will be treating student work as art throughout the duration of this course. I will encourage students to practice the basic principles of interior design, but also encourage them to tailor their own personality and style to their work. By the end of this course, I want students to be proud of their designs.

Class Experience

In this interactive course, students will learn the basics of interior design, make plans using their own inspiration, and design a room of their choice. Students will have the option to create their final project digitally, or alternatively if they prefer. I will encourage students to practice the basic principles of interior design, but also encourage them to draw from their own personality and style when designing! No experience or background knowledge is necessary.

Day 1 - Interior Design Basics
Students will get to know each other and learn interior design basics such as balance, focal points, use of color, and more. Teaching will be facilitated through interactive slides and engaging discussions. Students will be asked to find inspiration to bring to the next class.

Day 2 - Inspiration Share-outs & Planning:
Students will be given the opportunity to share their inspirations (only if they would like to). The teacher will model the planning process and guide students as they begin to plan and choose a room type. If students do not finish their work in class, they will be encouraged to finish on their own.

Day 3 - Time to Design
The teacher will guide students in taking their finished plans and creating their final room design. The teacher will introduce the free digital platform students may use. Students will be given independent work time in breakout rooms.. The teacher will check in with each learner. If students do not finish their final designs in class, they should finish before our next session.

Day 4 - "Open House"
This last session will serve as a student showcase. Students will be able to share their final room designs with the class and receive positive feedback. The teacher will end the course by giving learners an optional "challenge" to work on in their own time.

My lessons are student-centered. I am less of a lecturer, and prefer to engage students in discussion, hands-on learning, and interactive slides. I value my students' ideas and perspectives and strive to make learning meaningful to my students. You can expect me to be positive and encouraging as I guide your learner through this course.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of interior design basics and apply this understanding by planning and designing a room of their choice.

Supply List
- Students MAY need access to the internet to find inspiration (Pinterest and Google Images, for example). Magazines are also a great option.
- If students decide to create their final design digitally, I will provide a free program that I use (free signup required).
- If students decide to create their final design alternatively, blank paper, a pencil, and coloring utensils (optional), would suffice.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
