Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Intermediate Level
Is your student ready for the next level of understanding interior design and preparing for design school?

In each of these 12 lessons, your student will learn the basics of interior styles from ancient to modern times, including colors, motifs, building materials, furnishings and more. This course views design styles from all over the world as it relates to the different time periods.

After each lesson students will design a modern public or private area that uses elements of each time period studied and send to the teacher for feedback. Students can choose to do a simple furnishing floorplan OR a design concept/mood board OR a photo collage. In addition, students will be able to build a resource book of historical styles by the attached handouts and their notes. By the end of the course, students will be able to relate elements of historical styles to today's interior design styles. Also, at the end of the course, students will receive a certificate stating that they have completed a study in interior design history and families may request a grade or other academic documentation to fit into a high school elective.

This course is a great follow-up to the Interior Design High School Semester OR Interior Design 101 Skills Semester Courses.
