Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Intermediate - Advanced Level
Is your student ready to build a portfolio for future interior design jobs & college?
Has your student taken multiple design classes, such as my Interior Design High School Semester or Interior Design Skills Course? (Experience with basic design principles is required before taking this course.)

In this class, students will gain insight into what it is like to design for a client, while being mentored by me, a professional interior designer. Each of the designs they create in this course can be added to their portfolio (a visual record of their design work). HS students may use this as an elective course and may request a grade.

Videos about different Interior Design Styles or concepts (YouTube link) will be added related to the client assignment for added learning. Students will work on the new project with a deadline of one week, unless other arrangements are made with the teacher. As the teacher/mentor, I will reply to their posts with feedback, encouragement & tips. Students may be asked to revise their work as real clients often ask their interior designer to redo parts of their design. Students will do a mood (design concept) board AND a design furnishing plan. Assignments will challenge students to think creatively, but with time constraints that are always a part of paid building & interior design projects. There will be a total of 10 projects with different client profiles, which will include private and public building interiors.

Important Notes:
👩‍🏫 Teacher availability for feedback/support is limited to a set number of students per fall/winter/spring/summer sessions. Please book ahead by picking an enrollment date for the school session you need to secure your spot.

👨‍🎓 Class material level is designed for a high schooler with interior design experience.

🧐 Please make sure student has in their schedules ample time (2-4 hours minimum per lesson) to work on projects. They need to be able to create a design concept board and furnishing plans, including researching materials.
