Interior Design Bootcamp: 4 Weeks of Design Fun

Do you love creating spaces and want to know more? In this 4 week class, students will be introduced to Interior Design principles, sketch out a room, and learn to organize spaces like bedrooms and playrooms in exciting ways.

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this 4-week class, students will be introduced to Interior Design Principles, and also create a fun decoration or organization idea for your room!

Please note that this is the flexible version of the Interior Design Course.  Classes are not live but pre-recorded and students may choose when to take the lessons, according to their schedule.

This class will be interactive with students and teachers.  Students will be asked to upload and share work of Interior Design, in our classroom.  I will post weekly on Mondays, both with a pre-recorded video and a share and a discussion message. I will be available to discuss, answer questions, and support every learner. Students are also encouraged to work together through the Outschool classroom platform as a class. Our "mini-project" will be designed to help students engage in a meaningful and fun activity weekly.  We will also have a  Class weekly challenge and interact with learners from all over the world.

Here is an example of Course Content and Videos for each learner:

1st Class- Video 1:  What's Your Style? Students will be introduced to Interior Design styles & see how to incorporate more than 1 style. We will also examine what is not your style.
**Mini Project:  Create a Mood Board to Define Your Style.  Share with the Class. 

 2nd Class- Video 2: Interior Design Inspiration & Budgeting. Learners will be shown how to problem-solve and improve spaces. We will take an inspiration walk and share how to find materials for inspiration or for client meetings. Also, the basics on budgeting!
**Mini Project:  Students will gather items from their inspiration walk. We also have an optional budgeting sheet. Share with the Class.

3rd Class- Video 3: Interior Design Sketching. We will learn spatial awareness and basic design sketching.
 **Mini Project:  Follow a tutorial to create a sketch of a room. You have 2 options. You may follow my sketch or try your own for advanced artists. 

4th Class- Video 4:  Create Your Space.  We will use technology, plans, or organizational materials to find purpose in places.  
 **Mini Project:  Students are encouraged to organize their own bedrooms, toy rooms, or spaces.

Learning Goals
Students will learn about current interior design trends and be introduced to the theory of Interior Design.  Students will define their Interior Design Style.  They will be introduced to creating and organizing spaces.

We will also be using apps or games of choice such as roomstyler.com, SIMS, Roblox, Minecraft, Animal Crossings, Pinterest, etc. to design a room.

**Students may choose to buy organizational supplies for their room, or just sketch out a plan.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

In 2021, I began work as an Interior Designer at a Design Firm In Idaho. I love to decorate, and cannot wait to share the beauty of the season by creating a craft with my students. My passion is interior design. I utilize home design software to create home plans for living spaces. I continue design work as a room designer and create design boards for room plans. I have over 15 years of combined teaching experience.
