In this engaging one time class, learners will have fun listening to a book about fireflies, participating in a reading comprehension discussion, writing about fireflies, and drawing a firefly!

Description
Class Experience
Learners will be able to practice their speaking skills by sharing their knowledge of fireflies and why they like fireflies. Learners will improve their reading comprehension and vocabulary by listening to an interesting text. Learners will be able to use their creativity and fine motor skills to draw a firefly. Learners will practice their writing skills by writing in complete sentences. Learners will use their imaginations to think of a story about a firefly or their background knowledge to write fun facts about fireflies.
2 files available upon enrollmentLearners will need paper and art supplies, such as pencils, colored pencils, crayons, or markers. Learners may chose to bring a firefly picture or toy to class to share at the beginning. Learners may print out a writing plan to assist in their writing.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
