Class Experience

Students will learn how to remember and relay important information in a written format.
Students will become comfortable with sharing their work.
Students will learn more about world geography through learning what animals live where in the world.
Students will learn some history, particularly when it comes to interesting facts about animals and how they were discovered (when known).
Students will get to draw and reinforce their learning through art.
I taught this exact class for a number of years. I am a professional artist, a history teacher, I have taught science, written books, and generally teach all classes in an interdisciplinary way.
There is no homework however parents are welcome to review and help students make any corrections to their writing.
Please have an art sketch book for this class and pencils/colored pencils. Markers RUIN artwork and I prefer they not be used. My son's sketchbook from 3 years of this class is like a mini-animal science book and he has kept it for years. I hope that your little one fills their book with many wonderful animals and a love of learning.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
There is no grade.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Some animals eat other animals. We will be discussing animals eating other animals and killing other animals. In my experience, even smaller children understand that everything needs to eat to live, and this becomes just a part of the lesson like any other part. We will be using a mixture of YouTube videos for animal facts. These may be embedded in a google slide. Your student will not need to access either of those as I will be screen sharing.
