Description

Class Experience

This class is appropriate for advanced students in grade 3, on-pace grade 4, and slightly behind students in grade 5. This course works on various essay and writing strategies. Students are encouraged to move from writing sentences to paragraphs in a structured format. Students build interactive notebooks, journal write, look at mentor sentences and paragraphs, and play collaborative games and activities. Students will learn writing techniques and experiment with various types of essay leads and hooks. As they learn different techniques and write for different purposes, their writing will take on style and voice. Students will use the writing process and continue to build their knowledge of writing conventions.

Optional writing practice

Schedule and materials will be posted on outschool classroom prior to class. Students will need access to a printer, scissors, coloring supplies, writing utensils, and glue.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
