US Grade 3 - 4
In this step by step writing program your learner will learn how to form super sentences and powerful paragraphs through explicit teaching and putting together an interactive notebook. We will meet 1 time per week. This class uses "Rockin" Resources Step by Step Writing Program. Each lesson will have: - a mini lesson (taught with google slides and mentor texts) -an interactive notetaking experience with the learners own writer's notebook binder -modeling of the skill -individual writing time Each week, in the classroom, I will post the week's printouts we will be using to build our writer's notebook. Your learner will need the weekly printouts, a binder and lined paper to put into the binder, scissors, glue stick, scotch tape, colored pencils, pencil. The concepts we will be covering in this class: Week of September 4: nouns and verbs Week of September 11: nouns, verbs and linking verbs Week of September 18: simple sentences: subjects, pronouns and predicates Week of September 25: compound sentences Week of October 2: topic sentences and indents Week of October 9: relevant details and closing sentences Week of October 16: Using a paragraph graphic organizer and a writing rubric Week of October 23: No class (Family vacation) Week of October 30: Nouns and verbs Week of November 6: nouns, verbs and linking verbs Week of November 13: simple sentences: subjects, pronouns and predicates Week of November 20 : compound sentences Week of November 27: No Class *Thanksgiving Break* Week of December 4: topic sentences and indents Week of December 11: relevant details and closing sentences ****end of the Semester**** This class is first class and foundation of the Second Grade Writer's Interactive Notebook Series. Learners will need to use scissors to cut out and paste the interactive notebook binder pages. Please provide a glue STICK and NOT a bottle of glue.
