Story time is the perfect way to help your student develop reading comprehension strategies that are important for independent reading. During the interactive read alouds I will encourage students to think out loud, ask questions, and make personal connections. It is always my goal to create a learning environment that makes learning fun and interactive for students while being asynchronous. This class is a FLEX class which means we will NOT have any live sessions. Each week I will upload...
Students will build their skills in phonics, reading comprehension, connection making, and reading response.
I am a certified elementary school teacher who is passionate about reading. I have completed several courses and trainings on teaching foundational reading skills. Reading is a very important skill and with the right support, any learner can become a superstar reader.
Students will be expected to complete a reading response page for each story time lesson. This should take about 1 hour each lesson, 3 hours a week.
I will provide printable pages before lessons are posted. Students will most likely need these materials to complete each lesson: -Notebook -Pencil -Coloring Utensils (crayons, markers, colored pencils) -Scissors -Glue
I will provide feedback for learner assignments through pre-recorded videos posted to the outschool classroom.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will be using scissors for various activities in our notebooks.
