Th Adventures of Sherlock Holmes consists of a collection of twelve short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. The first short story was published on October 14, 1892. None of Sherlock’s stories are in chronological order and the only characters common to all twelve short stories are Holmes and Dr. Watson. The stories are told in first-person narrative and are from Dr.Watson's point of view. This series of short stories will have your student excited and eager to join the adventure as we go back in time. "Even at 126 years old, the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is a book that will inspire readers to use their scientific inquiry and reasoning skills, even in literature. This novel study will give students an opportunity to improve their literacy and comprehension skills while reading fictional texts. To help guide their learning, students will be making annotations during the reading time. Students will get a chance to dive into the novel and make inferences about the author, the characters, and the text’s purpose. During class time, Students will be able to discuss each short story, analyze the story’s elements, participate in activities and answer text-dependent questions. The class will meet once a week on Mondays. The students will be asked to read 1 short story per week.
