Interactive Musical Learning: Meet the String Family of the Orchestra | Ages 4-7
This class is designed to introduce students to the orchestra and its 4 families. This class will highlight The String Family of the orchestra. This class is highly interactive and will include a LIVE instrument demonstration on the violin. Additionally, there will be a SURPRISE visit from composer Wolfgang "Annadeus" Mozart.
Class experience
Teacher Anne makes her Outschool debut in an interactive class featuring The String Family of the orchestra, and includes LIVE instrument demonstrations on the violin, and sound samples of several other instruments within this family. This class is 1 of 5 in an optional series titled, The Orchestra Series. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the 4 families of the symphony orchestra through the series, and be able to identify instruments of each specific family that we focus on. This class will highlight The String Family. Students will see a live demonstration of the violin and see how it is played, as well as learn that violins come in many sizes. Additionally, there will be a SURPRISE visit from composer Wolfgang "Annadeus" Mozart.
I have currently completed my 21st year of teaching at a private independent school in Indiana. Our school is ranked in the top 20 percent of schools in the United States. I have been teaching music for 25 years in both public and private schools, Montessori environments, park district programs, and as a private tutor. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University, and professional training in Kindermusik and Suzuki Violin School. I am a member of several professional organizations, and have taken classes on musical technology, encouraging creative expression, social/emotional learning, flipped classroom, and engaging students in the classroom.

Learner's are evaluated by in-class assessment, and by their engagement and knowledge at the end of the class. They will have a basic understanding that there are 4 families in an orchestra, and will be able to decide which instruments belong to the string family.Grades Offered
