In this intensive 7-week class that meets twice a week and includes homework, students in middle school will learn the biology of the human body and organ systems. (This is Part 4)

Class experience

US Grade 5 - 8
This class is taught in English.
Students will be able to explore through lecture, experiments, demonstrations, homework, and discussion the organ systems of the human body.
I was a middle school science teacher for 10 years. I have also homeschooled and graduated my daughter for 10 years. As a public school teacher, I taught Earth Science, Chemistry, Physical Science, Zoology, Biology, and more to hundreds of students. Science is a passion of mine and I find performing experiments both fascinating and illuminating when learning new scientific facts! In this class, students will have ample opportunity to perform their own experiments to reiterate the information they learn in class. I have my Bachelor's degree in Biology/Pre-Med and a Master's in Healthcare Administration. I currently manage a hospital-based sleep lab where we practice many of the things (blood pressures, respiratory issues) we will discuss in class.
Homework Offered
Homework will be a variety of worksheets and labs throughout the course. Homework should last an hour or less for each assignment.
2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
A letter grade will be given for each homework assignment if it is uploaded to the teacher. We will also begin each class by discussing the homework given and review our previous information learned.
Grades Offered
A letter grade will be given for each homework assignment turned in. Grades and homework are not mandatory but will be given upon request or when work is turned in. A semester grade can be requested by parent/guardian.
Activities are not mandatory and can be adapted to fit the needs of each individual learner. Notes and homework can be digitally manipulated if student prefers, graded or not, no reading out loud in class.
As a dissection is done in class (if student chooses) students need to have eye-hand coordination enough to handle some tools that are sharp. Students need to be mature enough, in parents/guardians estimation, to be safe around sharp tools.

Stopwatch
Students will be using dissection tools that can be sharp. Students must be mature enough in parent's decision to utilize these tools during class independently. We will also be looking at real images of organs, cells, tissues, etc. as well as picture of x-rays.

I will be on vacation from April 5-20th. I will still be answering messages but may be slower in doing so than usual as some of the time I am gone, I will not have access to wifi/cell phone data.
