This is a writing and grammar course designed for students in grades 5-8. Students will write 3 full-length essays during the course and work on grammatical topics that directly support writing skills. Includes extensive teacher feedback.

Class Experience

This structured grammar course includes writing, games, and projects so that students may apply what they know to their writings. Each week, students will see how the concepts are necessary in order to become better writers, readers, and thinkers.

In many writing courses, students are expected to write frequently, but little feedback is given. Lots of writing practice is good, but if students are continually making the same mistakes over and over, it is difficult for their writing to...

Students will improve their knowledge and application of grammar studies and writing

I have a BS in English Education and a MAE with minors in special education, psychology, and math I am a public school English teacher (5 years).

10 minutes per week of grammar homework. Some out of class writing (about 30 min per week)

Unit quizzes, writing essays with teacher feedback

1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.

Students will use Google Forms, Google Docs, and Blooket. Students will not need to make a Blooket account. The link for Blookets and Google Forms will be shared via chat in zoom. Notes will be provided as PDFs.
