Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 8

In this 4 session class, students will learn the fundamentals of Integers! 

Week 1: positive or negative? Let's discover integer key words! Let's find Integers on number lines! 

Weeks 2-3: Gains and Losses! Let's learn how to add and subtract integers using numberlines, integer chips and mental math! 

Week 4: Let's learn how to multiply and divide Integers!

Week 5: Let's put it all together! The last session will focus on applications of Integers in word problems. We will focus on applying our previously learned vocabulary to highlight key words and phrases in the word problems.


Classes will be a follow a format of: I do, we do, you do. Students will interact with visuals including numberlines, integer chips, and discussions. Students will practice the problems using a variety of games and activities, including quizlet live, kahoot and other interactive websites.

Hello! My name is Elyssa Lang.  I am 33 years old and from the state of New Jersey!  I look forward to teaching science, math, and social-emotional skills classes here on OutSchool!  I am a master's level teacher in the New Jersey public school system looking for a creative outlet!  I currently teach special education middle school math, science, social studies and social-emotional skills.  My credentials include a bachelor's degree in Music Performance, a master's degree in elementary education with a focus in special education, and professional certificates in early childhood, elementary, middle school math and science, and special education.  I believe that education should be hands-on, fun, and relatable to real life!  I also believe that building personal relationships with my students is key to their success.  In my free time, I like to read, knit, and spend time with my two sons, husband, and dog!  I look forward to working with you and your children in my classes!
