In this three week book club we will read and discuss the dystopian book Insurgent, the second book in the Divergent series by Veronica Roth.

If you are a fan of dystopian books like The Hunger Games or The Maze Runner, then you will love the Divergent series! In this class we will read through Insurgent, the second book in the Divergent series by Veronica Roth. This class is open to students who are reading the series for the first time and students who may have read the book previously, but would like to re-read it in a book club setting. Students will complete the reading ahead of time and then we will meet together to discuss...
Students will engage in book group discussions each week. Through these discussions we will work on comprehension skills, analyzing the characters and their actions, making connections, discussing the author's purpose for including different events and characters in the book, and comparing and contrasting different characters and events.
I am a licensed school librarian with a love of dystopian young adult books! I have lead book groups and discussions with students across a wide variety of age groups.
Homework Offered
Students are expected to have the reading completed before each class period. There will be about 80 pages for students to read before each class. Class 1: Chapters 1-7 Class 2: Chapters 8-14 Class 3: Chapters 15-21 Class 4: Chapters 22-30 Class 5: Chapters 31-39 Class 6: Chapters 40-472 - 4 hours per week outside of class
