This will be a fun, collaborative writing experience. During this class, students will enjoy a read-aloud, and will practice a technique for writing based on the author's use of grammar, vocabulary, or sentence variety. Students will share writing with each other, if they are comfortable, and will be able to add to their writing as they hear each other's ideas. My classes are always light hearted and fun, and I strive to make my classroom a safe space for all students. Learners will...
Students will learn new ways to express their ideas by using specific vocabulary, punctuation, or sentence structures. Students will learn to collaborate to make their writing better. LEARNER EXPECTATIONS: Please refer to the Learner Safety and Privacy: For Parents https://support.outschool.com/en/articles/579976-learner-safety-and-privacy-for-parents Learners are expected to be able to participate and to come to class prepared. I offer limited support for each student to help them get started, or to talk through the writing process with them. If your learner has difficulty participating due to behavioral or developmental challenges, please be prepared to sit near your learner to facilitate his/her learning. ALL learners are welcome in my class. Some learners may not write as much as others, but that is just fine. The point of my classes is to improve on what a learner already knows how to do, and to expand their knowledge. CLASS BEHAVIOR/EXPECTATIONS AND MUTING AUDIO OR VIDEO POLICY: When a behavior issue arises in class, the learner will be reminded of the class expectations and re-directed. If the behavior continues, I may mute your child, or turn off video to ensure that I provide the optimum learning experience for the other learners (I will always inform your child of my actions in the chat so as not to involve other students). Your child will still be able to access my audio and classroom presentation. Very rarely, a learner behaves in a way that requires them to be removed from class (inappropriate behavior/language/images). In this case, no refunds or transfers will be given, and I will message you about the situation after class. Occasionally, I may need to mute your child due to background noise I will let the child know if that occurs, and let them know that they need to raise their hand to speak. You may also need to mute your child at some point due to background noise, or other reasons. Please feel free to do this at your discretion. Your child will still be able to hear the class interactions.
Paper or a journal, and a pen or pencil for writing.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
