Class Experience

Welcome to Women in History! In this 8 week class, we will explore a brief biography of different women in history, their life, the society and culture that shaped them, and what contributions they made in their field. We will discuss how their lives would be different if they had been born in different times and cultures and what shaped them into achieving their goals.

Each week we will explore a different powerful woman from history. The first half of the class will be a power point lecture which may include recordings or videos. The second half of the class will be a guided discussion into what we have learned and our individual thoughts on what they did.

Week 2 - Viola Desomd – Canadian civil rights activist
Week 3 - Leymah Roberta Gbowee – Liberian peace and women rights activist
