US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
In this four week class, the students will listen to a non fiction book about an insect. During the research part of the class, each student will have the opportunity to participate and add to the research and discussion. The students will follow directions and create a directed drawing of an insect or create the life cycle of that insect with the teacher. The students will then label the body parts or life cycle with words or sentences. When the drawing and facts and labels are complete, the students will have an all about insect project for everyone to admire. The students will be encouraged to share their work with the other students in the class, if they feel comfortable. The lessons do not build on each other, so feel free to enroll your learner for any lesson. Week 1~Are You A Dragonfly? By Judy Allen and Tudor Humphrhies Week 2~Are You a Grasshopper? Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom.
My name is Betty Nilssen. 💕
I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade, full inclusive classrooms. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power.
However, I always incorporate math, writing, drawing, social studies and science into all of my lessons, as well.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers. My mom was also an educator.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw. Let's get started!
Enroll your Early Childhood Education student and your child will further develop an academic foundation and gain academic confidence with a love of learning. Your child will be a life time reader!
Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or if you are looking for different times or dates for classes.
I can't wait to work with you and your child and further a passion for learning!
