What makes one business succeed while others fail? What brings innovation and forward thinking? How does an entrepreneur think? These are all valid questions with no simple answers! This class explores the art of business and entrepreneurship from a disruptive and innovative standard, providing concepts and principles to drive the young entrepreneur to success. "Disruptive" in this sense means entering an established market with such a new approach or product that it blows past the "big guys" in success. "Innovative" in this sense means products or processes that are risky but have potential for highest yield. Disruptive and Innovative combine together to launch a business beyond expectations. But being both of these requires much discipline in approach. This class explains the simple rules to make that happen. Loosely aligned with the popular "Lean Startup" methodology, this class relies on industry standards and personal experience to provide a practical view of successful business. The class will be largely lecture supported by whiteboarding and class discussion. It is recommended for anyone interested in business or entrepreneurship. Everyone is encouraged to share ideas and examples of the concepts discussed from their own experience. I will also share many examples from my 40+ years of entrepreneurship. This is not a complete business course, just a single class to spark the thought process and present terms and resources to go further.

I have been a computer engineer and executive, as well as serial entrepreneur all my life. Starting as a teenager, I have launched and managed many businesses across several disciplines such as computer technologies, retail, service, photography, author, agriculture, etc. This wide variety has allowed me to form and prove concepts of what works and what doesn't. This then is combined with the industry accepts processes known as "lean startup" and described in the book "innovators dilemma".My goal is to pass along what I have learned to the next generation, in an modernized context.
