Join us during the month of October to work on creative lettering for 10-15 minutes a day! We will use the official prompts issued by Inktober. You are welcome to use paper or a digital app like Procreate or Illustrator.

Description

Class Experience

Inktober is a global, annual art challenge for artists during the month of October. In this class, we will join artists worldwide, developing our creative lettering skills by illustrating one word a day, for 31 days. At the end of the month, learners will have compiled a mini-portfolio or collection of 31 illustrated works. This class will form a mini-community of lettering artists who view each others' work and comment on each others' lettering styles!

Finish one word per day, in any style, any medium, any size! 5-15 minutes per day.

For learners working on paper, a sketchbook or plain notebook (without lines) that has enough pages to accommodate 31 prompts. This can be very small (4x6 in) or larger size. If a learner does not have a sketchbook, plain paper works fine too. You will need a variety of pens and markers in different colors. Pencil, eraser and ruler are also helpful. 

For learners working on iPad/procreate, a stylus is very helpful.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.

Please note that "Inktober" is an annual art challenge for artists (but not specifically for children). See inktober.com for more information. Artists taking part in the Inktober challenge often post their work on social media with a hashtag, but I will not encourage Outschool learners to post anything online, nor will we look at any artwork outside of the class.
