Informational Writing: Mini-Lesson (Ages 7-10)
This one time class is for your child if they need help learning how to write using information from research. This would be a great introductory class or refresher for reluctant writers.

Description
Class Experience
Students will find that writing can be fun when they are able to generate writing ideas for research and writing (informational). Students will learn techniques from other authors (mentor text) and apply it to their own writing using an anchor chart. Students will understand how to begin to write using research. Students will be able to hone their writing by having one on one help from the teacher. Students will learn to share their writing with an audience.
Students will be encouraged to continue writing at home and share with friends and family.
1 file available upon enrollment-All students will need a writing utensil of choice and a journal or paper to write on. -Students are encouraged to have a writing notebook where they can cut and paste anchor charts, to take notes, and to keep their writing all in one place. -If the students choose to have a journal and would like to cut and paste their anchor chart in it, they would need scissors and glue.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There will be no assessment or grade.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Sensitive topics will not be discussed.
