I present my ability to teach this class on my successful teaching experiences, art appreciation, research capabilities and experiences as a African-American and woman. My masters degree is in Social Work where I am trained to handle and manage difficult situations and information. I have also taken undergraduate courses in African-American history. I have 10 years of professional experience working with primarily African-American populations in foster care which also equips me to handle delicate matters with professionalism and tact. I have spent the last 20 plus years of my life creating arts and crafts in my free time.
Student will allow paintings to dry and then coat them with Mod Podge after class.

We will be covering historical figures throughout American and Mexican history, in order to be accurate and give students a fuller understanding of the contributions made by these individuals, I will have to address racism, sexism and intolerance. I will do so in a very gentle and conscientious manner. My goal is to honor the memories of these individuals therefore, much of the focus will remain in the honoring.
