ALEKS is a computerized math tutorial program that is individualized to the learner while also tracking progress toward course-specific objectives. I have been tutoring learners who are working with ALEKS for the past few years and I enjoy using this program to target specific needs of my students. In this course, your learner's ALEKS account is included in your course fee so that I know that I have a program that will help us both meet your goals. From the ALEKS website: "Assessment and...
Learners will make progress on their individualized math goals over the course of 8 weeks of working with me.
I have been using the ALEKS program for several years in my role working with students at a local university. I am very comfortable with this program and have found it to be very successful with learners. Additionally, I have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry for many years to junior high students for many years.
Learners are expected to work approximately 4-6 hours per week on their own in ALEKS. This will ensure that they have plenty of opportunities to identify what they know, as well as identify areas for us to target during our one-on-one meetings each week.
As a Master Account holder, I have access to individualized information about how much time the learner has been spending on their practice and which topics they have been struggling with. I can also assign them quizzes if you would like to target a specific goal with your summer practice.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 4+ hours per week outside of class.
