In this class, students will be assessed in their reading and writing capabilities. We will then create individualized learning goals for the learner in reading, writing, and grammar. During class we will work on phonics, fluency, comprehension, grammar, and writing skills in based on their needs and individual learning goals that are specified by the parent or based on the assessments given by the teacher. Students will improve their English Language Arts skills in reading, writing, and grammar.
Students will be given different study and learning tasks based on their educational goals and current skill set.
Paper, pencils, crayons/markers/ colored pencils, a highlighter, books to practice reading with the teacher, and may need to print curriculum or materials created by the teacher for the student's use.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed through a range of assessments, both formal and informal in phonemic awareness, phonics, reading fluency and comprehension, and writing.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
