Individual Tutoring

Students will improve their understanding and application of various aspects of writing. Particular aspects will depend upon student requirements but may include:
sentence structure
planning a creative or non-fiction piece of writing
expanding vocabulary with descriptive terms
foundations of grammar (clauses, articles, tenses etc), 
writing dialogue
direct and reported speech
persuasive writing
building an argument
inference
elements of preparation for SATS English (UK students)
verbs
and so on. 

Writing is my passion and as well as majoring in English at university, I've almost 20 years experience in teaching English in primary schools (4-11-year-olds) and also as a Home Educator. Over those years I have regularly worked with groups of children specifically on English writing skills. 
I have worked on a 1:1 basis with students of varying stages and abilities over many years and also tutor online.

Formal homework will not be assigned. I may suggest an exercise to help consolidate learning and help the student move forward but this will not be compulsory.

Assessment will take place by continuous feedback during class. 
Depending on the class subject matter, I may suggest uploading a piece to the class page afterwards, for which I will provide written feedback. 
Grades will not be given as the focus is on improving understanding and building confidence rather than setting out to achieve a grade-driven goal.

1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Class content will be created by me for each learner.
