Description

Class Experience

The goal for this course is to build strong, fluent, and confident readers through engaging activities.

In each meeting of ongoing, individual tutoring learners will practice early reading and phonics skills and concepts through fun, engaging games, exercises and drawing activities. This class is perfect for ESL learners too! Individual tutoring benefits learners because they receive individualized attention and feedback. This is a perfect class for those who want to drop in, practice early literacy, comprehension and phonics concepts.

Each class includes targeted phonics practice, sight words, high frequency words, short sentences, readers with repeated words to help build confidence and fluency and reading comprehension. If requested, we can also have letter drawing activities.

Please contact me through Outschool to schedule a section that works best for you if the sections I currently offer are not a fit for you.

In order to get the most out of these classes, learners should have some paper and something to draw and/or color with.
I have taught learners of this age range music and ESL since 2002 online and in person. I have been running this course (in the 25-minute version) for over a year with lots of success. I love teaching languages, phonics and music! I have an MM and BM in music, I am a certified Speech and Accent Modification Coach and have TEFL certification for young learners.
No homework is required, but learners are encouraged to practice the concepts reviewed by using their printable worksheets.
Learners should have some paper and something to draw/color with.
There is no formal assessment, however, we play games to assess understanding.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Learners should have some paper and something to draw/color with.

It would be greatly appreciated if a parent/guardian could be available off-camera for at least the 1st few minutes of class to assist with technology, if needed.

I aim to make learners feel as comfortable and welcome as possible freeing up time for parents/guardians.
