Class Experience
The research has shown, phonological awareness is critical for learning to read any alphabetic writing system (Ehri, 2004; Rath, 2001; Troia, 2004). This weekly private class will be based on your individual student and where I can support their growth in phonological (sound) awareness, speaking skills, vocabulary, and social skills. I come prepared with a lesson plan, however, I believe that letting the student lead can create more positive growth outcomes, higher confidence, and establishes a stronger level of trust so that they are more likely to give their best effort in our time together. So basically, I believe the student comes first, my lesson plan comes second. Depending on the class, we may make sentences, create stories, listen to some of my silly original songs, play games, watch videos and other fun activities to practice phonological awareness and other skills. No experience is required. This class is not intended to be or replace speech therapy.
