My expertise in the topic area: I am a professionally licensed teacher by the state of Oregon to teach Spanish and Social Studies for grades K-12. I have a BA degree in History and a Minor in Spanish. I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching. I have taught an assortment of Social Studies classes, Spanish language classes, and French language classes in international high schools for 5 years, teaching for 2 of those years in Guatemala and 3 of those years in Morocco.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Politically sensitive topics may be addressed in this class. If they come up in discussion, I will guide the discussion as objectively as possible. I am qualified by the International Baccalaureate to teach IB History and by the Collegeboard to teach AP World History, which I have taught for six years. My Master's degree program taught me how to teach difficult topics. I have taught 6th grade Estudios Sociales (Social Studies in Spanish) at a public school in the state of Oregon. Lastly, I have taught a high school course for two called Contemporary Issues, which covered a variety of sensitive political topics. Over the years, parents have appreciated my objective approach to the sensitive parts of world history. As we work together, I will, to the best of my ability, keep the conversation purely scholastic.
