This session offers private tutoring as requested by the parent or guardian, targeting understanding of and operations with fractions. Skills will include decomposing fractions, working with fractions on a number line, comparing fractions, and finding equivalent fractions. Work may also include converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions. Other skills may be targeted as requested by the parent. Lessons will be presented using interactive software with consistent use of visual images and real like examples. The course is structured as follows: 1st session: Decomposing Fractions 2nd session: Fractions on a Number Line 3rd session: Equivalent Fractions 4th session: Comparing Fractions

Teacher expertise and credentials
After serving as a Captain in the Air Force, receiving a master's degree in computer science, and working in middle management positions, I discovered my love for teaching. The subsequent 12 years have been incredibly rewarding. Advanced degrees are supported by certifications in ESOL, Reading, Special Education, and General Education through middle school.
In my classrooms, expectations are high, but so is responsiveness to the different learning traits of each student. I strive to create an inquisitive classroom where scholars are motivated to ask and answer questions and discover solutions without being told everything. New concepts are linked to existing skills and knowledge to boost understanding and retention. And the goal is not just academic growth; it is guiding a student to develop the confidence to confront and master any academic challenge, now and in the years to come.
Outside of the classroom, my interests are reading, travel, and playing chess. I am also making good progress in learning Spanish to support students who are Spanish speakers.
My education and diverse background have equipped me to provide an educational experience that is relevant, effective, and motivating for each student.
