Individual Trumpet Lessons: One-On-One Guidance With a Professional!
Class experience
This is a course for individual instruction for trumpet players. As the needs of each student will be different, the content of each lesson will vary. However, emphasis is always placed on the following concepts: -good breathing -correct embouchure and articulation -correct valve fingerings with notes in tune -a pleasing tone: not pinched or forced, not wobbly -scales, arpeggios, and other technical exercises -good music reading skills with correct pitches and rhythms -beginning...
First, students will gain technical prowess on their instrument, focusing on concepts like air usage, embouchure, articulation, and valve fingerings. Beyond this, they will further their musicianship by improving their sight-reading, listening, and analytical skills. Perhaps most importantly, this course provides instruction in how to practice correctly--a skill that students need the most in order to improve!
I'm a professional trombonist, a remote recording artist, a YouTuber, and a teacher of around twelve years. I also professionally record trumpet and euphonium and have been arranging brass music for about five years.
Homework Offered
In order to grow as musicians, it's vital that students practice at least three times a week, if not every day. As brass players specifically, it also builds muscle strength, which we greatly need! A weekly lesson usually ends in assigning a short list of tasks for the week. Those tasks usually include: -practicing scales -practicing material from a method book -technical exercises -listening assignments In all, the assignment list should take about thirty minutes on its own (but more practice is always encouraged!).1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students perform their prepared material in their lesson each week. In addition, making a recording while practicing to bring to a lesson is highly encouraged.Grades Offered
- a functioning trumpet and a mouthpiece - any music being worked on (band method book, any concert music, any PDF sheet music that I give out) - a metronome/tuner (I recommend the Korg TM60) - (optional) a music stand and printing out sheet music PDFs are helpful!
