I love helping kids become fluent readers.  Fluent readers gain comprehension and are able to excel at other academic subjects such as Science and Social Studies. It's such a joy to help open up the world for them!

Teaching Style:
Props and visual aides are used to connect for understanding.
“I do. We do. You do.” is the model of my lessons.
For chapter books we might need less of this and more of "What did you just read?" and "How is the character feeling?" type discussions.

Learner Reading Requirements:
-Learners should be reading picture books at a 2.7 or higher level
-Learners should be ready to summarize larger chunks of text.

Weekly Schedule:
-We will go through a chapter during each class.
-Consideration of student’s interests may guide our materials
-If you have a book request, I’ll do my best to get that book.

Teaching Style:
-I am patient with struggling readers.  
-I correct gently.
