Assessment
The learner's progress will be assessed through weekly dictation of words and sentences based on the concept taught. A learning plan time frame will be developed and at the end of the time frame the learner will be assessed. The assessment will determine if a new learning plan needs to be developed.

Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
I will be tutoring and teaching reading. I am available Monday=Friday, beginning in June and possibly on Saturday if needed. The topics covered will depend on the learner’s assessment of needs. The topics will be chosen after the first session, and I have met and determine what the learner needs to become a proficient reader for their age. The focus of the class will depend on the child's needs but will include the five components of reading: phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. I teach by beginning with a review of concepts, and then presenting a new concept that the learner will practice through writing and reading, other media. All the sessions will include multisensory activities using the Orton-Gillingham methodology. The learners will get to interact through games, slides, video, and discussions. I will provide weekly readers and other materials for practice. A learner does not need any prior experience or knowledge.
Learning Goals
The learner will gain reading fluency by encoding (spelling/writing) and decoding (reading) single and multi-syllable words based on their individual needs determined by their learning plan. The learner will improve comprehension through reading passages based on concepts taught.
