Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
This 1-on-1 class is designed to allow students to practice reading out loud with a patient listener! Students can choose the animal they read to such as reading to a goat, reading to a dog, reading to a rabbit, reading to a chicken, and more! This class allows students to build their confidence and love of reading in a fun & unique way. This class is designed for individual students as a one-on-one experience with the animal.

Students are responsible for bringing their own reading material to class. I am happy to guide the student's reading experience if they ask for help & assistance, but I do not correct their reading at all in class. This experience is all about building confidence and encouraging fun!

Students can choose from available farm animals, students must message the teacher their choice of animal a minimum of 6 hours before class begins to allow for preparation time. If students do not message a choice before the six-hour time frame then the teacher will select an animal such as a dog or chicken. Students are encouraged to bring their own stuffed animals & favorite snack or beverage to create a fun environment. Animal choices can include the following: goats, chickens, a dog, chicks, or rabbits as available (note, baby animals' availability depends upon their age & timing must be appropriate for the animal's well-being). Chicks are typically available in January/Feb/March/April.

I will encourage the student to read for the entire class time, however, we may engage in conversation about the animal or student's reading material as needed to allow the student the full benefit of the class experience. I do encourage parents to allow students to read without correction, as the animal is designed as a judgment-free reading zone. This is PERFECT for struggling readers and encouraged them to love reading time.

Siblings are welcome to share the time at a very significant discount if enrolled, you may message for me to allow a private session with an additional learner!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am a private teacher and tutor with over ten years of experience in the classroom and online. I strive to inspire children to fall in love with learning! Learning should always be an adventure and something that allows the child to become inspired. My degree allows me to have a strong understanding of a child's development and educational needs.

I currently live on a farm with Vinnie & Yoda (my two pet fainting goats), numerous dairy goats, Patch the Pony, numerous American Guinea hogs, and around 70 chickens including a laughing rooster (if you look this up you will not stop laughing!). You may also meet Cupcake the dog or Elsa the Cat! I'm working towards sustainable living with native plants, a renewable garden, and lots of fun!
