Depending on the preference of the parent, homework will or will not be assigned at the end of each meeting, but regardless, students are encouraged to practice what they've learned against family and friends, at home or online, between classes.Assessment
Report cards will be made available to parents by request, at any time during or at the end of the ongoing tutelage, detailing their child's progress.Class Experience
These lessons are specifically designed for our students who have already completed one or more of our group classes (of any skill level) and are looking for an individualized experience to either supplement or reinforce the skills taught in our other course offerings. At the request of the parent, and/or based on the student's individualized skill level as demonstrated by their history in our previous classes, we will customize each tutoring lesson to build upon the student's existing foundational chess knowledge to accomplish specific goals, as well as improve overall skill and ability in general.

Central New York Chess is a New York State registered Non Profit Organization, and an affiliate of the US Chess Federation. We are on a mission to teach critical thinking, logic, reasoning, and other life and social skills through scholastic chess instruction, to today's youth. Our classes are primarily directed at elementary & middle-school-aged children, and are organized into 8-week semesters of once-weekly 60-minute long classes (8 meetings total), each comprised of approximately 30 minutes of lecture format followed by approximately 30 minutes of organized play between the students. We've been teaching these classes locally for years, but now are excited to share them with the rest of the world thanks to Outschool!
