Class Experience
US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 4
Lessons will vary based on the current knowledge and ability of the student. I will use total physical response, songs and props to teach basic English vocabulary and phrases. Some topics we may cover include: *Colours *Letters *Numbers *Food *Family members and pets *Clothing *Common expressions *Greetings If the learner is more advanced, the class will be run more free style in order to allow the student to engage in conversation on various topics of interest. As we discuss, I will model and correct to ensure proper vocabulary, grammar and sentence structure. Parents: please be sure to contact me before the first class to inform me of the child's current ability in English so that our first class is appropriate in level. As we continue I will have a better idea of the child's ability and will adjust future lessons.

Students will work to improve their ability to communicate in English.

Students may want to keep a blank notebook and a pencil or pen near by in order to write down any new words.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Ms. Amanda and I was born to teach. I have two younger sisters and when I was little, I would play teacher with them all the time. As a child, I even taught my sister Sam how to read. I love reading and Harry Potter is my all-time favourite series (yes that is how you spell favourite in Canada).
Now that I am all grown up, I have had the pleasure to teach everything from Pre Kindergarten to grade 6, Adult Basic Education and college level courses. I was even the Principal and Student Support Teacher of a small school for a few years! I have a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, a BEd, a Masters of Science in Education with a specialist in reading and literacy and am currently a Doctoral Candidate.
I believe that all students can learn when the teacher recognizes student choice and multiple intelligences, and when strong relationships are fostered through listening and sharing. This will develop a lifelong love of learning.
I can't wait to virtually meet my students from across the continent!
