Do you wish some classes or curriculum could go better for your child? Do you want to know more about your child's learning style to help make better decisions for classes and curriculum? Do you want to give your child an individualized learning experience? Does your child do better overall in a one-to-one class with a teacher? Do you love it when your child is learning new things AND having fun at the same time? If you answered yes to any of these questions then I'm so glad you're here! We are going to enrich your learner's educational experiences together! Education is so much more than 'input of information'. I create curriculum and activities that are fun and engaging, and pick up on a child's learning style very quickly. I am very interactive with my students by primarily using a whiteboard in order to make eye contact and create a personal connection. Included in your 4-weeks is: ~Customized curriculum ~Assignments and homework from me as appropriate ~Availability to check-in with your learner when needed ~A profile on GetEpic, an online amazing library ~PURPOSE~ Aside from practicing current and new educational skills, this series of classes can help you decide if ongoing 1-1 tutoring is a good fit in specific areas. This series will also help identify which group classes will be ideal moving forward along with curriculum to use and other resources. I believe this is a great investment in your child's education. I am highly experienced in creating the best fit in education for kids of all ages! ~SETTING UP YOUR LEARNER~ - If possible, setting up your learner in a place all to themselves is ideal because I am highly interactive with my students, and I like to offer interaction between students as well! - Having space all to themselves allows them to socialize, lean on me as their teacher (instead of a parent in the room), and stay unmuted for seamless interactions. ~Week 1 ~~Writing & Spelling Today your learner will go on a 'letter scavenger hunt' by using the first letters of their name. Their activity is to go find five items in their house that start with either of their initials. This activity makes learning fun and helps them think through letter sounds. They will bring back items found and share them. They will practice writing the names of items with my support as I write them on my white board and teach letter formation, and correct any spacing issues. Our next activity will be matching words to pictures. They will match words to pictures I have created then it's their turn! They will draw and write a matching game for me to complete! It can be as simple as drawing a circle for ball, and writing 'ball' next to it (: ~Week 2 ~~Geography Let's Explore! Included are 3 PDF printouts to bring to class. We will identify the world's seven continents along with your learner's home state! We will explore your learner's home state's name, capitol, flag, bird or animal, and common food. I will prepare ahead of time to read a book or watch a video that helps us learn all about your home state! ~Week 3 ~~Math A super fun way to engage children in math is MONEY! Who doesn't want to learn more about money?? So today we will identify coins and dollar bills, create some pretend accounts, and do some shopping where we get to practice addition and subtraction. Bring lots of paper to this class along with a handful of money! ~Week 4 ~~Reading Today I will offer three books to read together. One book I will read. One book your learner will read completely that is at their current skill level or lower. One book I will read and choose words or sentences for your learner to read with my help when needed. Students will choose their favorite book, write the title, and draw a picture about it. ~END OF CLASS~ I always offer to end class with a virtual hug, virtual high-five, or virtual fist bump (: ****WARNING!**** ****WARNING!**** ****WARNING!**** >>Common behaviors after taking my classes: #1. Constant request to take more classes #2. Sudden bursts in new interests #3. Unexplainable bouts of contentment #4. Increasing ability to express one's self very well If any of these behaviors start to appear and you need assistance in what to do please contact me (: ************** THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING HERE! ********************* In every class I teach, it is my goal to nurture a love for learning AND learn what feels life-applicable! We are not learning to test, we are learning for life! Being that my teaching style is highly interactive I pick up on the interests and learning style of each student and do my best to tailor the learning experiences accordingly, whether that's simplifying an activity, or increasing it's challenge! I look forward to having your learner in class! ~Teacher Valerie
Learning Goals
Students will improve upon many skills even if you leave all the teaching and topics to me! My games and activities always prompt reading, writing, critical thinking, and more. I can easily get to know a student quickly and customize from there. Whatever your goals are for your child, we will reach them or get on a path to reaching them.
