Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
Welcome all budding Bass guitarists! Allow me to introduce myself, I’m Charlie and I am a seasoned Bass guitar instructor of over 10 years.

I offer one to one private guitar lessons for all ages and skill abilities. One highlight of my job is meeting kids and young adults of all musically influenced backgrounds and find a common ground to establish a rapport; our love for playing and learning an instrument!

Having taught in multiple institutes, from primary to schools to private institutes, one skill I have developed and enhanced is the ability to adapt and tailor private tuition to an individual. As music is such a wide and vast muse, I believe it is important to hone in on an individuals musical taste and enhance the reason they love the instrument, via tuition.

In our private lessons, I will break down how to play, perform and even compose bass guitar tracks, as well as follow traditional exam material, (if wanting to work on and achieve grades.). This is backed up with astute theory tuition and technique practice in the form of short burst interactive exercises. Many students find the area of theory and technique to be less than exciting so I make sure to make this very important part of bass guitar development fun and interactive!

A real highlight and privilege of my job is seeing students develop over the years and become adept enough to have their own careers in music; whether it be performing in bands, become session musicians, or release their own songs worldwide, it’s always important to aim for the stars and one day it could be you being a well known musician or tutor!

*WHAT HAPPENS IN MY FIRST BASS GUITAR LESSON?*

A first lesson is a great opportunity to meet and discuss your musical interests, favourite songs, aspirations and goals! For many aspiring bass guitarists, the thought of learning to play can be daunting; therefore as a tutor I provide an engaging and supportive learning environment that helps students build confidence and improve their playing ability.

                                  *WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?*

Really, the bare minimal! A great feature of learning online is you can progress in the comfort of your own home! A decent internet connection and access to Zoom, and we're good to go. Preferably your bass guitar will be in tune but if not, I will be able to guide you how to do so in the lesson.

                                         *STUDENT RESUME*

Throughout my teaching career of over 10 years, I have taught individuals and groups from the seven to 80 years old;  Age is just a number, what matters is you have a passion for learning instrument. Follow the link below to see more performances!

                                          *TESTIMONIALS*
“Charlie taught my son to play the guitar.
He got his first acoustic guitar aged 13 and was engaged from the very first lesson.
He had so much fun in his weekly lessons & Charlie’s music choices were perfect to keep him interested, enjoyable and to challenge him.
He now plays guitar & bass for various artist & bands.
We’d 100% recommend Charlie as a music teacher for any age.”
— Kirsty, parent of former student

“My 14 year old son has been having guitar lessons with Charlie for around 7 years. Charlie has managed to keep him engaged and interested with his relaxed and encouraging approach to teaching.
He has recently passed grade 4 and is currently working towards grade 5.
My son enjoys playing his guitar with Charlie and looks forward to his weekly on line lesson. The on line lessons suit us well as he has a busy schedule and we would struggle to take him to regular face to face lessons.
I would recommend Charlie as a teacher to anyone of any age or ability.”
— Vrunda, parent of current student

“I made more progress in my guitar and piano playing under Charlie than I did with anyone else. His lessons are fun and enjoyable and he always tails it towards your own personal music goals, whether it be graded pieces or learning your favourite genre/styles of playing. Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of taking their guitar or piano playing to the next level!”
— Lonan, current electric guitar student
