Description

Class Experience

This one-time session is a fun way to introduce little kids to the beautiful super ancient art of BharatnAtyam ( bah-rut-naa-tee-yum), which is one of the seven classical dances of India. 
In this class, we shall have fun while learning to express ourselves through hand gestures, facial expressions, and foot movements. Your child will learn a unique way of expression and movement and get a peek into the ancient world of Indian art.

Little ones will learn facial expressions, hand gestures and foot movements in a fun manner. Representations of nature and emotions will be taught.

Everyone is required to have a long stole that the child can wrap around itself. Also if access to an Indian store is possible, pls buy a supply of bindis which is the dot that Indian women wear between the eyebrows. If bindis cannot be purchased pls have a skin- friendly erasable marker pen that you don't mind your child using on his/her skin.

35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Previous to the class, please have your child do 5-10 mins stretch routine of any kind to make sure they are ready for some small hand and leg movements during the class- the dance movements are NOT heavy or hard to do. This is only an introduction class into the many facets of this ancient dance style. 
While attending the class, it's advisable to have the floor cleared of any toys/objects to avoid injury since this dance form is done barefoot. 
Ensure the child has enough space to move around freely. 
No footwear is required.
