Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Fostering independence in the kitchen is a necessary skill as teens grow older. Both cooking and baking help create and encourage a multitude of skills, from precision to creativity.

Each week we will go through basic baking skills as we prepare easy treats for teens. This class is highly interactive and very hands on. We will work together, with frequent check ins, to create delicious desserts together.

Recipe cards will be available the Friday prior to class to ensure that all necessitates are ready for our class. You are welcome to print out the cards so that students can have a stack of recipes to have available whenever they so need. If dietary restrictions such as allergies, veganism, or celiac disease are present, please feel free to message me and I will make adjustments in instruction during class. Recipe cards with variations will be available each week in the classroom.

This class is all-inclusive and is designed to help learners with anxiety, Dyslexia, ADHD, ADD and ASD achieve their goals. Our classroom is a quiet, positive, low pressure area where students can engage as much as they'd like. Cameras and/ or mics are only asked to be on during our 'check in' sections, where learners will give a quick update on their progress to ensure no one is feeling left behind. I wholeheartedly believe that everyone should feel comfortable and confident in the kitchen.

Hi there! I’m Tabitha Rivera and I am happy to meet you. A little about my background, I have a degree in English and Creative Writing and have been an online teacher for 6 years now. I also have 18 years teaching experience in a classroom setting in daycare, tutoring and homeschooling. I love learning and believe that everyone should have something fun to learn and grow with. I enjoy fostering in a student’s learning by providing thought-provoking out-of-the-box lessons that keep my learners asking questions and thinking long after the lesson is over. I also believe that learning should be fun! My classes provide hands on lessons that get my students moving and learning in new environments. My favorite part of teaching is answering my student’s questions and seeing them make new discoveries while following their passions.

I currently live in New Mexico with my daughter and 2 dogs. In my free time I enjoy working on writing my book, reading, traveling, cooking and baking. I also love to learn new languages and about every culture. I currently can speak 6 languages and look forward to adding more to my collection.

I look forward to seeing your child in my classroom! Thanks for stopping by!
