Fluency rates will be tracked during each session.Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 8
The first session will focus on identifying your child’s reading level and interests and establishing a parent-teacher-student relationship. During the following sessions, the teacher will use an evidence-based strategy to increase reading fluency for all learners (rate, accuracy, prosody). If you would prefer to use the first session discussing your child and specific needs, please send a message. I am happy to make changes to the original plan. Each session will have the following routine: 1. Quick check-in to build positive teacher/student relationship 2. Choose a story 3. 1st time read (1 minute) 4. Complete reading activity 5. Final timing (1 minute) A graph will be used to keep track of student progress over time. *This class is not ideal for students who are still sounding out quite a few words. If your child needs phonics support, please let me know. I will happily create an individualized plan and class to assist with reading growth. *Also note that class content and process is based on each individual learner. Therefore, it may be changed as I get to know the student. How is the fee determined? The fee for this class is based on live instructional time, additional practice opportunities after class, teacher experience and trainings, as well as time spent preparing specific lessons and materials for your child. Teacher Philosophy I believe in a positive parent-teacher relationship. Therefore, I encourage communication between us. Following each session. a follow-up message will be sent to share how the session went. This includes the skills we worked on and an additional reinforcement activity. Why choose Mrs. Swanson? I have a passion for teaching all students. I work to make every child feel important, safe, and comfortable. I’m compassionate and fun, but also firm when needed.
