Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Students will learn four ways to increase their vocabulary words.
Students will learn the difference between informal writing/language and formal writing/language and how to "code-switch" (change the words/language in writing) for papers.
Students will learn five common Latin and Greek roots/prefixes to help them gain a sense of a word's meaning.

I will present at least five common Latin and Greek roots and prefixes and will shares examples of these in words. Students will then be shown various unknown words with these roots and prefixes to help them gain a sense of each word's meaning.

I will then explain strategies to help students increase their vocabulary words.

Finally, students will practice elevating their current known words to stronger, unknown words and will practice using them.
It will be a fun experience for students to increase their word knowledge-a necessary skill for writing success!
