Assessment
I periodically assess skills that have been taught over a period of time to ensure retention. I adjust my lessons accordingly.Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner - Advanced Level
Math topics may include: single-digit and multiple-digit addition and subtraction, place value, multiplication, division, area, perimeter, fractions, decimals, estimation/rounding, exponents, word problems, and beginning algebra. Homework help is always an option. I will use digital manipulatives, real-life word problems, IXL, video clips, and the interactive whiteboard on Zoom to engage the student. I discuss what math topic/s to work on with parents before class. I create a comfortable learning environment where students can share thoughts and take academic risks. We will work through emotional blocks and reflect on learning style preferences. The goal is for students to master the skill and then be able to complete work successfully on their own. I provide time during each session to ensure student independence, and assess student progress with the specific math concepts taught during this time. I update parents via Outschool conversations regarding their child’s progress.
