In Our Science Era! Hands-On Outdoor Experiments | Summer Camp (3x/Wk)

Science is full of wonder & excitement! Let's explore and push boundaries through chemical reactions. Let’s take science OUTSIDE! Scientists will complete a daily hands-on experiment and discuss their hypothesis, experiment, & findings.

Class Experience

🧑‍🔬 Welcome Outschool Scientists! 👨‍🔬

Are you ready to conduct some awe-inspiring outdoor experiments?

Every student will be exposed to a plethora of creative and fun hands-on science experiments. As class meets three times during the week (once each day), every meeting will consist of a different experiment and materials.

Our experiments will encourage learners to identify the various concepts of science behind what they are doing daily. Science experiments are about doing, testing, and observing from beginning to end...also to have TONS of FUN!

Another great opportunity with this class will be the discussion with other students! Everyone will have the opportunity to converse with each other, and to listen to shared experiences.

Please be sure to check out our class ‘syllabus’ for our list of experiments! You can also reference our ‘supply list’ for not only the most experiments but also our list of materials/ingredients needed. I do my best to keep experiment materials needed to a minimum, or at least use items that the average household has already!

-------------CLASS BREAKDOWN-------------

👋 Greet & Settle into class - 1 to 2 minutes

👩🏻‍🏫 Intro (the days experiment) - 1 minute

👩🏻‍💻 Presentation (covers needed materials & hypothesis guesses) - 5 to 7 minutes

📖 Step-by-Step experiment - 10 - 15 minutes

🗣 Class discussion/findings - 3 to 5 minutes

👋 Goodbyes - 1 minute

-----------------------------------------

**Parents, I do my best to keep the materials at a minimum and majority can be found in households. The materials for each day are listed below in the 'Supply List' section.

Learning Goals

Students will improve their understanding of various science concepts, and how different materials combined can create amazing things. Students will identify the process through hands-on learning.

- 4 cups vinegar
- 2 paper towels
- measurements
- 1 cork (preferably a cork from a bottle as we need something that can 'pop' out from our bottle rocket...or something similar to a cork)
- tray
**An adults help will be needed off camera to assist your student in attaching our straws and for getting the mixture together / adding the cork.**

Welcome! My name is Jessica (Teacher Jessica). I have my Master's in Elementary Education (multiple subjects)! I have taught in the 6th grade classroom, and as of the last four years I have been teaching here on Outschool!

My teaching experience has given me the knowledge and tools necessary to ensure all students can thrive inside and outside of the classroom. Being an elementary school teacher, I enjoy and have fun teaching in all areas; as you may notice with my class listings I enjoy doing a little bit of everything!

I love to enhance learning development, and to watch each student grow individually. I look forward to meeting your child!

Aside from work life, I have a husband and three little ones! Outside of teaching, we love to be outside in nature, reading is life, and family time is everything!
