Class experience
This course will be a fun, interactive way to analyze 'The Giver' by Lois Lowry. Students will learn to analyze a book in a different manner - comparing themes, debating aloud or in writing about the relationships between happiness, justice, political freedom, equality, dystopia, utopia, etc. The overall goal will be to have a better understanding of this particular book, and learn how to discuss literature in a way that prepares them for higher grade level classes.
I have taught this book many times over to middle and high school kids, and each time they seem to bring something new to the table. I always look forward to teaching this section, as I never know what the next creative kid will observe about this novel! I hold a Bachelor's in English Lit. and am partway through a Master's Degree in English, and have taught many classes, both in person and online.
