In this class, students will learn a variety of performance games and create a short-form show to be presented to friends and family. We will cover improvisational techniques and how to perform on a virtual stage. Students will create their own team name, colors, and shirts. The course is structured as follows: Week 1: Getting to know you. Review of Improvisation basics. Week 2: Games for Performance: Short form activities such as foreign film, long-form three-line scenes, World's Worst Week 3: Continue Games for Performance Week 4: Create Team Name/Colors/Talk about Shirts and Coordination Week 5: Scene Structures for Performance Week 6: Choosing scene structures for our show. Week 7: Dress Rehearsal Week 8: Performance Note: The November/December section is only 6 weeks. Each day will begin with a warm-up and then focus specifically on the activity. Students will get immediate feedback. My teaching style is friendly and positive. My students are all superstars! Prerequisite: This course is designed for students who already have a background in improvisation or comedy. Students who have attended a minimum of 6 classes of Intro to Improvisation, Music Improvisation, or Comedy Club will be a good fit for this course. Those that have attended outside improvisation programs that have a strong grasp of the fundamental of short-form improvisation can take this class as well.
